It all started when I was listening to WLS on the am dial. I started playing piano when I was nine, but you can't strap a piano around your neck and play rock n' roll! So I switched to playing bass guitar. I started playing bass guitar in junior high school and my first band was called Naptha. We had a horn section and played Chicago covers and the latest top 40. At the age of 17, I switched to guitar, because as you know, guitar players get more……………..you know, calluses.

I played rhythm guitar in a band named Pandora during high school. Yes, we did play Aerosmith covers. From there I went to lead guitar in Sweet Thunder with Brent and Steve Kreighbaum. Brent and I are still very good friends. He plays with the Groovie Ghoulies in Elkhart, Indiana, my hometown (and also band instrument capital of the world). After moving to Minnesota in 1991, I joined as a guitar player with The Personals, a motown/blues/alt band. We did it all and had a lot of fun until the bass player broke his arm rollerblading. We skated right into oblivion. I was getting the itch to play again and answered an ad in the City Pages for a lead guitar player. When I found out that they played one of my favorite songs, I thought to myself that THIS COULD BE IT. I joined the band and we called ourselves Uncle Chunk. We played current alternative covers and originals. We grew to be the top cover band in the twin cities of St.Paul/Minneapolis. We opened for bands such as Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, the Gin Blossoms, and even played the Hairball Festival, opening for Skid Row, Vince Neil, Jackyl and Tesla. It was a great time playing in Uncle Chunk and I miss those guys a lot! They are still going strong to this day.

Now I look forward to new adventures with Jif and the Choosy Mothers! Oh yeah, by the way, my favorite foods are pizza and burgers. My favorite movie is Ferris Bueller's Day Off and my favorite color is
blue, green, yellow………….whatever.

I play Fender guitars, Line 6 amps, and use Dean Markley strings. I live in Rock Hill with my wife, Debbie, and our three kids, Erin, Jon and Courtney.
